KMD4EOSC

Duration: 1.01.2025 – 31.12.2027
Aim: The KMD4EOSC project will design, build and implement: infrastructure, services and applications for the storage and collection of scientific and business-related data, as well as their processing, analysis and effective and compliant with good practices and requirements and regulations, making them available for the needs of the scientific community and the economy. The main objective of the project is to lay the foundation for a national repository of open scientific data in accordance with the requirements of the European Commission and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The goals of the project include providing the ability to securely store data for the long term, as well as to use this data through access, analysis and processing.

ACC Cyfronet AGH is responsible for the construction of data storage infrastructure based on HDD and Flash disk systems, as well as development work in the field of data repositories, implementation of SYNC & SHARE type solutions, integration of object-oriented data storage systems, among others. Cyfronet's work is carried out in Laboratories 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Virgo-PL

Duration: 1.10.2023 – 31.12.2026
Aim: The purpose of the project is the participation of the institutions building the Polish Virgo Project Consortium in the use and expansion of the Virgo gravitational wave detector, which is part of the global network of gravitational wave detectors in Europe (Virgo, GEO600), the USA (LIGO) and Japan (KAGRA). The project consists of seven tasks that implement an agreement between the Polish Consortium and the European Gravitational Observatory (EGO) to contribute to the Virgo research infrastructure. These tasks concern contributions to improving the sensitivity of the Virgo detector, characterizing noise in the Virgo detector, contributing to the International Gravitational-Wave Observatory Network (IGWN) computational network and analyzing data from the global network of gravitational wave detectors, and popularizing the Virgo project results.

ACC Cyfronet AGH is mainly responsible for computational support for the Virgo gravitational wave detector and integration with the International Gravitational-Wave Observatory Network computational network.

TCS AH PL 2

Duration: 01.01.2024 – 31.12.2028
Aim: The TCS AH (Thematic Core Services Anthropogenic Hazard) project concerns the activities of the EPOS TCS AH consortium partners within EPOS ERIC (European Plate Observing System), of which Poland is a member. EPOS is a program for the integration of research infrastructures for multidisciplinary studies of processes in the Earth's crust. TCS AH represents one of the ten disciplines in EPOS. The mission of the TCS AH consortium of 15 institutions from 8 countries is to integrate resources, data and applications for the study of seismic and other geophysical hazards caused by the exploitation of Earth's resources.

ACC Cyfronet AGH is responsible for maintaining and developing the functionality of the EPISODES platform - the central point of the TCS AH thematic node and other TCS AH-related services, and for maintaining the integration elements between TCS AH and EPOS ICS-C - integrating all EPOS thematic nodes.

PLGrid ICON

Duration: 01.06.2024 – 31.12.2025
Aim: The aim of the project is to build a modern cloud infrastructure enabling the implementation of research and development works conducted in accordance with the Open Science paradigm. This infrastructure will provide solutions that respond to the current and future needs of Polish society, the scientific community and the economy, enabling the increase of the innovativeness of the economy by strengthening the infrastructure potential of the scientific and research sector and developing the ability to cooperate with the business sector in the field of R&D activities. The PLGrid ICON cloud will be designed with an emphasis on providing an environment for research and development works with particular emphasis on data science and artificial intelligence applications. From the hardware side, the cloud will be built based on two computing clusters in Warsaw, one purchased by ICM UW and the other by ACC Cyfronet AGH, profiled for these two applications.

ACC Cyfronet AGH is responsible for building the cloud infrastructure for processing large data sets, as well as development work in the areas of, among others, hardware layer architecture, creation of specialized data processing platforms and integration of infrastructure within the European EOSC network.
