The Open Research Data Repository of Krakow Universities RODBUK has received the CoreTrustSeal certificate, confirming compliance with international standards for so-called trusted data repositories.
RODBUK is a platform for depositing research data sets, the creation of which was initiated by the Board of Directors of the Krakow Library Team. ACC Cyfronet AGH is responsible for the technical implementation of the project, including the development of the access interface for users and long-term storage of entrusted data.
Currently, the repository is co-created by 6 Krakow universities: AGH University of Krakow, Jagiellonian University, Krakow University of Technology, Krakow University of Economics, University of the Commission of National Education and Krakow Academy of Physical Culture, as well as Sano - Center for Individualized Computational Medicine and University of Wrocław.
RODBUK enables the collection and sharing of research data from various disciplines and formats. This allows the data to be indexed and cited, which has a positive impact on dissemination and promotion. All published metadata is compliant with the OpenAIRE guidelines and the Dublin Core format, and more broadly with the FAIR principles, which are one of the foundations of the development of the Open Science paradigm.
What does it mean to receive the CoreTrustSeal certificate?
The CoreTrustSeal certificate is awarded after meeting strict conditions for trusted repositories of digital data and metadata. The following are assessed, among others:
- technical possibility of long-term and secure data storage, including durability and security of physical infrastructure, system and software updates, technical support,
- formal structure and operating procedures ensuring long-term functioning of the repository,
- types of data that can be stored and the method of accessing it,
- availability of qualified personnel dedicated to repository matters,
- ensuring appropriate access to data, from the search level to reuse, including automatic assignment of the appropriate citation method.
Awarding RODBUK the CoreTrustSeal certificate is an extraordinary distinction, confirming the high quality of the repository's implementation and maintenance. Data stored in RODBUK is guaranteed long-term storage on specially prepared servers of the Academic Computer Center Cyfronet AGH, while maintaining the highest standards of protection against their loss.
