On November 24, 2025, we gathered during the Open Day of ACC Cyfronet AGH in the representative Aula of the main building of the AGH University of Krakow.
The 2025 edition brought together a record number of participants compared to those organized in the past few years. We listened to presentations of high substantive quality, experienced a wonderful atmosphere, and spent time in numerous conversations with users, providers of modern IT solutions, supporters of Cyfronet, and enthusiasts of cutting-edge technologies.
The event was held under the honorary patronage of: Minister of Science and Higher Education – Marcin Kulasek, the Ministry of Development and Technology, and the Ministry of Digital Affairs. It was also conducted in partnership with the City of Kraków.
The Open Day began with an introduction delivered by Prof. Marek Gorgoń, Vice-Rector for Science at the AGH University of Krakow. This was followed by a speech from Prof. Maria Mrówczyńska, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Marek Magryś, Acting Director of ACC Cyfronet AGH, presented Cyfronet’s current resources and the opportunities they provide for science and the economy. Immediately afterward, Cyfronet was presented within the broader context of the European Artificial Intelligence Factories system. Rafał Duczmal, representing NCBiR and EuroHPC JU, briefly outlined the jointly developed infrastructure, while Marek Kasztelnik shared key information about the project he coordinates: Gaia AI Factory. The second session of the event was dedicated to Cyfronet’s infrastructure users.
Thanks to the presentation by Dr. Bartłomiej Rachwał, we learned more about the J-PET tomograph of the Jagiellonian University; Prof. Dorota Rosińska introduced us to astronomical research on gravitational waves within the international collaboration Virgo-LIGO-KAGRA; Witold Wydmański showcased the business application of the Bielik language model for processing legal documents; and Prof. Konrad Szaciłowski presented the original use of crystal engineering of nickel and bismuth complexes in the context of neuromorphic computing.
The full program is available on the event webpage. An integral part of the Open Day was the announcement of the results of the competition for the best doctoral dissertation carried out using the computational resources of ACC Cyfronet AGH. The results were published in a dedicated announcement.
The Open Day was supported by 10 sponsors and gathered around 190 participants, representing scientific institutions, enterprises, and public administration units. As an accompanying event, a tour of Cyfronet’s server rooms with the Helios and Prometheus supercomputers was organized.
We hope that the event satisfied your curiosity regarding both Cyfronet’s activities and, in a broader perspective, the development of European supercomputing infrastructure and its use in research and business. We sincerely thank everyone who joined us as part of the ACC Cyfronet AGH Open Day 2025: invited guests, speakers, sponsors, and participants!
On the Open Day webpage we present a recording made during the event as well as a photo gallery – we warmly invite you to watch!
