- Project Title:
- Modernization of the Internet Exchange Point and Data Center Infrastructure of ACC Cyfronet AGH to Improve Energy Efficiency and the Security of Digital Services.
- Project Objective:
- The objective of the project is to increase energy efficiency, security, and the quality of digital services through the comprehensive modernization and expansion of the infrastructure of the Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH, including data centers, power supply and cooling systems, networks, and building management systems.
- Target Groups:
- The target group of the project consists of Polish researchers.
- Project Cost:
- PLN 30,000,000 – investment loan financed from the National Recovery Plan.
- Results / Outputs / Services / Benefits:

1. Server rooms covered by the Project investment will be modernized in accordance with current energy efficiency standards, and the infrastructure of ACC Cyfronet AGH will be separated from that of external Internet network operators, increasing the security and reliability of services;
2. Installation of new low-loss uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and power distribution systems reducing energy losses; deployment of highly efficient water-cooling systems and heat recovery technologies for building and domestic water heating, improving the stability of critical infrastructure operations and reducing the carbon footprint;
3. Expansion and modernization of the metropolitan network node with increased transmission capacity and reliability, ensuring a higher level of internal and external communication security. The modernization of the PIONIER network node will enhance data transmission security and access to national and European research infrastructures;
4. Modernized Building Management Systems (BMS), integrated with energy and environmental monitoring and utilizing advanced access control, physical security solutions, and predictive infrastructure performance analytics, will optimize operating costs and reduce the risk of failures;
5. Creation of new server modules and data storage space using solutions that enable secure and efficient processing of large volumes of data, providing increased availability of digital services and a stable, scalable, and secure environment for research activities and implementations for users from the science, public administration, and industry sectors.
