Aim:
The aim of the MAPTur project is to develop an advanced platform that leverages artificial intelligence to monitor, analyze, and forecast tourist traffic in Poland. The solution is intended to support public administration, the private sector, and local communities in the effective and sustainable management of tourism by providing insights based on up-to-date and accurate data. MAPTur addresses key challenges facing the tourism sector, including fragmented data sources, limited spatial granularity of available data, and the lack of tools for comprehensive forecasting of tourism-related phenomena across both time and space. The system will integrate diverse information sources to create a so-called digital twin of tourist traffic in Poland. This will enable, among other things:
  • monitoring tourist traffic in near real time,
  • identifying trends and patterns in tourist behavior,
  • forecasting future visitor pressure on regions,
  • supporting investment and planning decisions.
The project is carried out by a consortium comprising the University of Warsaw (ICM UW) and the AGH University of Krakow (ACC Cyfronet AGH), and its structure envisions a phased development: from data integration and processing, through modeling tourist behavior, to delivering a tool ready for practical use.
