The aim of the EDITH project was to support the development of "digital twins" in European healthcare. A system architecture based on standardized models and metadata was developed, along with a vision for its development. A federated cloud-based repository of models and data was created, compliant with applicable standards and regulations. A framework for a simulation platform was also presented. Representatives from the medical, scientific, industry, and patient communities were involved in the project.
The AGH UST Cyfronet team - Laboratory of Information Methods in Medicine - primarily participated in coordinating the development of a demonstration prototype of the simulation platform and the model and data repository, including interfaces to the EDITH repository and the necessary procedures for managing sensitive data. The team also participated in developing a business model for the ecosystem created within the EDITH project.
The Edith project was part of the European VHT Initiative - more information: https://www.virtualhumantwins.eu
In the recording, Dr. Marian Bubak from ACC Cyfronet AGH explains the idea behind the project, its most important assumptions, and the role the Cyfronet team played in its implementation.
