 Duration: 11.2001 - 12.2005 Aim: The basis for the construction of PIONIER network was the program titled "PIONIER: Polish Optical Internet – Advanced Applications, Services and Technologies for the Information Society." The program was approved in 2000 and adopted for implementation in the following year by the Polish Committee for Scientific Research (KBN). The PIONIER program initiated a series of actions (later joined by programs such as ePoland, Gates of Poland, etc.) in order to build the basic mechanisms of the Information Society, enabling Poland equal partnership with other countries.
