## Introduction

EPOS - European Plate Observing System is a program for multidisciplinary studies of phenomena occurring in the Earth's crust. The goal of EPOS is to facilitate the understanding of Earth dynamics and tectonic processes based on the analysis of seismological, satellite, geological, petrochemical and laboratory data.

## Objectives

The main task of EPOS is to integrate the diverse and dispersed European Research Infrastructures in “hard” Earth sciences, based on modern IT technologies. In this way, EPOS enables innovative and multidisciplinary research to better understand the physical and chemical processes on Earth that affect earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, ground instability, tsunami formation, as well as processes related to tectonic movements and dynamic deformations on the Earth's surface.

## Thematic structure

EPOS activities are arranged under 10 Thematic Core Services (TCS):

- Seismology
- Near-fault observatories
- GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) data and products
- Volcano Observations
- Satellite Data
- Geomagnetic Observations
- Anthropogenic Hazards
- Multi-scale Laboratories
- Geological Information and Modeling
- Tsunami

## Projects and collaboration within EPOS

ACC Cyfronet AGH has been for many years involved in a series of projects that build EPOS ([SERA](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/international-projects/sera), [EPOS IP](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/international-projects/epos-ip), [EPOS SP](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/international-projects/epos-sp), [EPOS ERIC](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/international-projects/epos-eric), [EPOS PL](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/national-projects/epos-pl), [EPOS PL+](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/national-projects/epos-pl-plus), [EPOS ON](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/international-projects/epos-on), [TCS AH PL](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/national-projects/epos-tcs-ah-pl), [TCS AH PL2](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/national-projects/tcs-ah-pl-2), [Geo-INQUIRE](https://www.cyfronet.pl/en/projects/international-projects/geo-inquire) and others), with a particular focus on activities within the TCS AH (Thematic Core Services Anthropogenic Hazard). Thanks to the effort of Cyfronet's teams, the [EPISODES](https://episodesplatform.eu) platform was prepared and is stiil developed. The platform integrates data on human-induced geological events with software and computational resources for analysing these data and visualising their products.
